MG Road: Off limits today

Dec. 11: For those who were planning to spend the weekend shopping on MG Road, the city’s business hub, this could come as a rude shock. The stretch between Anil Kumble Circle and Cauvery Handicrafts Junction, will remain closed till Monday morning to facilitate bridge work between Metro stations.

Traffic police banned entry of vehicles and pedestrians on the stretch from Saturday morning and have suggested that they use alternative roads like Cubbon Road and Lavelle Road. Similarly, the stretch between MG Road and Kamaraj Road will also be closed during the same period.

The sudden closure will not only hit the flood of shoppers but also tourists, who visit MG Road and Brigade Road on weekends.
