Mild earthquake hits north Gujarat district

An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale on Thursday hit Patan district of north Gujarat, officials said.

"An earthquake was experienced between 8:39 to 8:45 am close to Verana village in Patan," District Collector Patan AG Hingrajia told PTI.

No damage or casualty has been reported so far.

The epicentre of the earthquake was 30 kilometre North East of Radhanpur taluka in the district, a senior scientist at the Institute of Seismological Research said.

It was at a latitude of 23.849 and longitude of 71.915, he said.
