Militant killed in encounter in Kupwara

A militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Kupwara district of north Kashmir, a defence spokeman said on Sunday.

The gunbattle broke out in Rajwar forest, 90 kms from here, on Saturday night when militants hiding in the forests opened fire on the search party of army, the spokesman said.

He said one militant, who is yet to be identified, was killed in the operation, which was going on when reports last came in.
