Militants to step up J&K ops

New Delhi, July 21: Latest inputs with the Central intelligence agencies confirm that commanders of several militant outfits held a meeting in the second week of July at Muzaffarabad in which it was decided to maximise infiltration of militants into Indian territory to revive militancy in Jammu and Kashmir and in other parts of the country.

Sources said that the meeting was chaired by Syed Salahuddin, chief of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), and was attended by area commanders, as well as launching commanders, of Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (LeT), HM and Al-Badar. Sources added that more than 30 persons including some officials of the ISI were also present in the meeting.

“The meeting deliberated on the issue of maximising infiltration of militants into the Indian territory in order to revive the militancy in J&K and other parts of the country. It was also decided in the meeting that the fresh infiltration bids will start from the last week of July”, sources added.

According to available inputs, a group of 15-20 LeT militants is undergoing three months’ training at Jhandi Chountra camp. They are being imparted training in handling of special equipment like Global Positioning System (GPS), compass and arms and ammunitions, sources said.

Inputs also reveal that militants have chalked out a plan to push in funds for various activities like stone pelting and organising protests in a bid to engage the Indian security forces.

Former HM militants, have been assigned to orchestrate such activities in the state. “Manzoor Ahmed Dar, resident of Khojabagh, Baramulla, is reportedly receiving funds from militants groups for further distribution and coordinating the stone pelting activities in several areas of the Valley by local youths”, sources said.

Besides, Ghulam Bhatt, resident of Chinkipura, Sopore, is also receiving funds, CDs and cassettes from various militant groups for further distributing it among local youths and motivating them for anti-national activities.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
