MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi shot at in Hyderabad
The MIM leader, Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi, was stabbed and shot at in an apparent assassination attempt by a local goon in Hyderabad on Saturday. The MIM leader has been admitted in the Owaisi Hospital at Santoshnagar, Hyderabad.
Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi was on a padayatra in the old city of Hyderabad when he was attacked by Mohammed Pahelwan and his associates. The reason for the attack is believed to be a land dispute.
Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi reportedly sustained bullet and stab injuries on the abdomen and in the hand.
Section 144 has been imposed in the old city areas. The police commissioner, Mr A.K. Khan, called on Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi, who is the leader of the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen in the Assembly.
