Minister quits over indecent remarks
Madhya Pradesh governor Ram Naresh Yadav on Wednesday accepted the resignation of tribal welfare minister Vijay Shah from the state Cabinet. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was quick in forwarding to the governor the resignation submitted by Mr Shah after he came under attack over his objectionable and double-meaning comments at a girls’ summer camp at Jhabua on Monday.
The main Opposition Congress on Tuesday had castigated Mr Shah for his objectionable remarks and demanded his ouster from the Shivraj Singh Chouhan Cabinet. The Congress party had also cornered Mr Chouhan by taking the stand that the chief minister should be compelled to take action against the erring minister as he did not spare and even made a reference to his wife while making some lose comments at a summer camp for girls at Jhabua.
Congress general secretary and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh told the media that the Vijay Shah episode and controversial remarks even by some other state ministers in the past show how intoxicated they are with power. He said that the people of Madhya Pradesh will show them their place in the coming state Assembly election.
