Mithila Mohan’s son for CBI probe

Kochi: The sensational Mithila Mohan murder case on Friday took a new turn with one of the sons of the liquor baron moving the Kerala High Court again seeking a CBI probe.
Justice T.R. Ramachandran Nair who considered the plea of Mohan's son M Manesh sought the state government's stand and posted the case after one week.
According to sources in the crime branch of the police they had a suspicion that the two brothers —Manesh and Manoj — among Mohan's four children were not on good terms following the murder.
The crime branch team had recently questioned Manoj suspecting his role in the murder and had seized his gun. Mithila Mohan was shot dead by unidentified persons on the night of April 5, 2006. The high court had also given anticipatory bail to Manoj after the latter had claimed that police was trying to wrongly implicate him in the case.
According to Manesh the case was handed over to the Crime Branch on June 17, 2006. But the police team failed to get any lead in the case. The murder of his father was the work of a professional killer. If the state police can’t crack the case the CBI should take over it, petitioner argued.
