MK sends legal notice to Swamy
Chennai, Feb. 6: The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Dr M. Karunanidhi, on Sunday issued a legal notice to the Janata Party president, Mr Subramanian Swamy, demanding an immediate public retraction of a statement linking his name to the 2G scam and seeking that the Chief Minister be impleaded as an accused in Mr Swamy’s complaint in the case in a Delhi court.
Denying the charge that he was involved in the spectrum allocation scam, Mr Karunanidhi, in his notice through his counsel, Mr P.R. Raman, rubbished the statement as false and “motivated by personal malice, political rivalry and clamour for cheap publicity”.
Mr Karunanidhi threatened to initiate civil and criminal proceedings if Mr Swamy failed to retract the statement within 24 hours. The notice also said that Mr Swamy’s statement was a ‘reckless’ attempt.
