MLA men beat pregnant woman in Jharkhand

In a shocking display of misuse of power, an MLA of Babulal Marandi’s JVM in Jharkhand has led a physical attack on a pregnant woman and caused her to suffer a miscarriage, according to an FIR lodged by the woman’s husband.

Chandrika Mahata, the JVM legislator from Jamua constituency in Jharkhand’s Giridih district, allegedly came with a group of his family members and supporters to the house of Tara Devi, who was two-months pregnant, and asked the men to beat her up, said police.

“The MLA and his men wanted to see my husband, who was away. They then started beating me up,” said Tara Devi, who is at a hospital.
