Mobile dhyanam for Jayalalithaa triumph

A ‘spiritual’ family in Manapakkam in Chennai has hit the road in a mobile meditation van to tour the state for getting the people to pray for the victory of AIADMK leader J. Jayalalithaa.
Their dhyana ratham was blessed by Amma at her residence on Saturday evening. The family includes two nine-year-old kids and they will pray and do dhyan for Jaya’s victory.
Talking about his ‘holy’ mission, realtor M. Kamaraj, 48, said, “If people meditate collectively, Amma will gain physical and mental strength to win elections. Our prayer will be a combo of cultural skits and meditation.” He said there is enough space in his dhyan van for visitors to join in the meditation.
Kamaraj has trained his son Srikanth and nephew Sunil for the road show.
“In the 30-minute skit, my children, dressed up like MGR and Jayalalithaa, will discuss the ills of the DMK regime. They will dance to the songs enacted by MGR and Amma in their movies. We will ask people to join us to meditate for Amma’s grand victory,” said Kamaraj’s wife Manju.

New seats worry all candidates

March 13: The state will face the Assembly elections on April 13 for the first time since delimitation.
The “delimitation factor” has certainly added to the worries of political parties, contestants, campaign managers and poll watchers in Tamil Nadu as they will have to deal with new terrain — the physical outline of the constituencies and their changed political, communal and social equations.
It is almost a new electoral landscape out there.
Though the parties have not finalised the identification of seats, all parties are aware of the changes undergone in terms of addition and deletion of a few parts, which have been with those segments for many elections.
Most aspiring candidates and ticket-seekers in the state are apprehensive about their chances in the Assembly polls as delimitation has changed the demography of their constituencies.
Of the 234 Assembly constituencies, almost all have been redrawn; several segments have been wiped off the constituency map while a few others have been merged either with the newly-formed constituency or an existing constituency.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
