Modasa blast: NIA to probe Asimanand
The Central probe agencies are likely to question alleged master mind of Ajmer and Mecca masjid blast cases, Swami Asimanand, in connection with 2008 Modasa (Gujarat) blast case also.
The intelligence as well as investigative agencies are suspecting the role of Right-wing outfits in 2008 Modasa (Gujarat) blast case.
According to sources a team of senior officials of the central agencies recently visited Sabri Dham, Saputara, in Dang district of Gujarat, where ashram of Swami Asimanand — the alleged mastermind of Ajmer and Mecca masjid blast — is located, to ascertain the Swami’s role in Modasa blast also. Two persons were killed and eight others were injured in the blast that occurred on September 29, 2008 in Modasa.
Sources said, “The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the Modasa blast case. A team of investigating officials visited Sabri Dham to inquire about the role of those involved in Ajmer and Malegaon blasts in Modasa blast case. There is a possibility that investigating officials may question Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, prime suspect in Malegaon blast case, again in connection with Modasa blast.”
However, the Gujarat police had reportedly given a clean chit to Pragya Thakur and her associates in the Modasa bomb blast case, sources added.
Involvement of the same group involved in Ajmer and Malegaon blasts in Modasa blast is suspected because the pattern of the blasts was almost the same, sources said.
In both Mecca masjid and Modasa blast cases, the minority population was targeted. If required, the officials may question Devendra Gupta, prime suspect in Ajmer blast who was arrested by Rajasthan ATS, in connection with Modasa blast, sources added. The powder was used to trigger low intensity blast in minority dominated area of Modasa town a few days before the Ramzan Id, sources said.
“Investigating officials are also likely to question Sunil Dahwad, driver of Swami Asimanand, in connection with the Modasa blast. Swami Asimanand was allegedly using his driver’s SIM card and was in constant touch with sadhvi Pragya Thakur,” sources added. There is a possibility that officials investigating Modasa blast may question Vishnu Prasad and Chandrashekhar Patidar too. These two were also recently arrested by Rajasthan ATS.
