Modi appointment as campaign head suicidal for NDA: Viveka
Nellore: Nellore rural legislator Anam Vivekananda Reddy said that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s moves to appease Muslims and Christians will not pay any dividends. Stressing that Modi is non-secular, he alleged that the minorities will not believe his efforts, because of previous incidents in Gujarat.
Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, he observed that elevation of Modi as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) campaign committee head is suicidal to the party and the NDA. He said that the BJP plans to derive benefits through Telangana sentiment will also fail. He criticised the BJP for attacking Samaikyandhra JAC members during a programme on Friday night in Nellore.
Asserting that people of the state are in favour of state unity, he said that he, along with 40 to 50 like-minded legislators would meet AICC general secretary and in-charge for AP Digvijay Singh on Monday and enlighten him about people’s mood against division of the state.
He claimed credit for developing Nellore city and rural constituencies at an estimated cost of Rs 595 crore during the last four years. Listing out the development works, he advised his critics to avoid making baseless charges.
Meanwhile, Nellore town legislator M. Sreedharkri-shna Reddy has set a foundation stone for a bitumen road and a cement road, which are estimated to cost Rs 80 lakh at Rayavarapu Harijanwada. He said that they have also sanctioned a cement road to connect Chintareddypalem with NH 5 at an estimated cost of Rs 1.29 crore.
