Modi has narrow mentality: Maya

BSP president Mayawati on Sunday lashed out at Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, without taking his name, for taking political mileage from the Uttarakhand tragedy.
In an obvious reference to reports that Mr Modi had got 15,000 Gujaratis rescued from Uttarakhand, Ms Mayawati said, “A leader who is being projected as a prime ministerial candidate seems to be concerned only about residents of his state stuck in Uttarakhand. A person with national aspirations has to rise above such narrow, parochial attitudes and be non- partisan,”
The BSP president said that the personality of a leader could be gauged from his statements. “We strongly condemn the political party, whose leader stakes claim for the post of the PM, but talks about saving people only from his state. A person having such a narrow mentality cannot be the one to occupy the top post with honesty,” she explained.

Ms Mayawati attacked the Congress and the BJP for hatching a political conspiracy and stalling the reservation in promotion bill in Parliament.
“They did the same with the Sachchar Commission recommendations and also affirmative action for the poor among the upper castes,” she pointed out.
Ms Mayawati also lashed out at the SP government for the deteriorating law and order situation in UP where the dalits, minorities, farmers as well as traders were being targeted by the anti-social elements in the Samajwadi Party.
Voicing second thoughts, Ms Mayawati said, “But where is the need for me to criticise the state government when the chief minister’s own father is reprimanding him publicly ion these issues,” she said and added that the BSP had repeatedly asked the UP governor to recommend imposition of President’s Rule in Uttar Pradesh.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
