Modi set to be dy CM of Bihar
Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi is all set to be re-elected as the leader of the BJP’s legislative party in Bihar. After the NDA sweeped the Bihar Assembly polls on Wednesday, a jubilant BJP took a pot shot at Congress and described the polls result as a victory of “merit-based leadership over family dynasties”.
Senior leaders from the central leadership, including Mr Arun Jaitley, Mr Ananth Kumar and Mr Dharmendra Pradhan will be attending the Bihar legislative party meeting on Thursday. Mr Modi, the state deputy chief minister, is likely to be re-elected.
The decision to send the three leaders was taken at the BJP parliamentary board meeting on Wednesday which hailed the “unprecedented victory of the NDA alliance in Bihar” and maintained that the coalition was emerging as an alternative to the UPA ahead of the 2014 General Elections.
It also noted that Congress president Sonia Gandhi and AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi had failed to influence the electorate and the party lost badly in the constituencies where they campaigned.
Reacting to the NDA’s victory, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said people of Bihar had rejected “dynastic politics”. He said NDA’s main opponents Congress and RJD “were under the impression that dynastic politics is what Bihar needs and only this will give them victory in the hustings. But Bihar proved them wrong.”
