Moily aims at 40% reduction in pendency
The Centre has set an ambitious target of reducing the cases pending in different courts of the country by 40 per cent within six months.
“We have launched Mission Mode Programme for reduction of pendency in courts, by which we plan to dispose of 40 per cent of pending cases from July 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011,” Union law minister Veerappa Moily said on Saturday.
“This is a nationwide programme to bring down the high number of pending court cases,” he said after launching the programme here. “In 2010, we had launched a programme for the speedy disposal of cases of undertrials and, for your information, I have to say that 8 lakh cases were disposed of in the last one year,” Dr Moily said.
