Monsoon Session from July 4 or 11
A Monsoon Session of Parliament is likely to be called either on July 4 or July 11. The six-week-long session could see realignment of political parties against the backdrop of a outcome of electoral battle in five state Assemblies.
The government’s priority is passage of its key legislative bills but the Opposition has been lacking to corner the government through parliamentary tactics and debates.
The Winter and Budget Sessions saw how the Opposition had lacked parliamentary tactics and thus failed to corner the government by effectively using parliamentary rules.
Moreover, growing unparliamentary behaviour of MPs is also influencing state legislatures. The role of the Left and the DMK would be significant in the Monsoon Session, viewed a section of the MPs. According to their feedback, both are not on the strong wicket in West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Will the DMK continue to remain with the Congress and how long, they ask.
They said the national parties — the Congress and the BJP — are not in a position to get mileage of the anti-incumbency factor in these states on their own.
