mp bjp offers sessions on gandhi book
These days, the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Madhya Pradesh is busy organising a series of sessions devoted to Hind Swaraj, the first book by Mahatma Gandhi to invoke and propel the demand for self-rule in India.
This event, being organised by the state school education department, was inaugurated here on September 25, the birth anniversary of the front-ranking leader of the erstwhile Jan Sangh, Pandit Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, and would continue till Gandhi Jayanti (October 2). While a number of senior BJP leaders have been associated with it, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be the chief guest on October 2.
The senior state BJP leaders and others who have attended this programme till now have spoken at length on Mahatma Gandhi’s concept of “Ram Rajya” and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya’s philosophy of “ekatma manavvad” (integral humanism). Those who have attended these sessions are viewing this exercise, a brainchild of school education minister Archana Chitnis, as significant and crucial from the political point of view.

Court rejects bail petitions of reddy, kin
AGE CORRESPONDENT
hyderabad, Sept. 30
The special court for CBI cases on Friday dismissed the CBI’s plea for custody of mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy and his brother-in-law B.V. Srinivas Reddy, the main accused in the alleged illegal iron ore mining case. The court also dismissed bail petitions of the accused. Special judge B. Naga Maruthi Sharma heard the arguments on Thursday and passed the orders on Friday.
The CBI sought a nine-day custody of the accused immediately after the expiry of six-day custody it had obtained to interrogate the accused in connection with illegal mining investigations. The defence counsels argued that CBI’s petition for custody of the accused was not maintainable as the law mandates custody of the accused can’t be granted 15 days after the arrest.
