MP CM announces pre-poll bonanza to SC/ST students

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday announced a pre-election bonanza for students belonging to the SC/ST categories, that includes the commitment that the state government would be paying fees for a fixed number of SC/ST students securing admission in private medical and engineering colleges.
The chief minister made this announcement at a special awareness camp organised at his residence for post-metric SC/ST students. He extended a similar offer for SC/ST students doing B.Ed, BDS, diploma in engineering, nursing and pharmacy and said that even their fees would be paid by the state. Till now, the state has been giving financial assistance for studies abroad to 10 students each from the SC/ST categories. Mr Chouhan announced that from now onwards 50 students each from both these categories would be benefiting from this scheme. He further announced that under the government’s Tantya Bhil self employment scheme, the youth from the SC/ST communities would get 30 per cent assistance with a maximum limit of `3 lakh.
