MP CM blames UPA for onion prices, corruption

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, during the course of his “Jan Ashirwad Yatra” on Sunday said that the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre is responsible for rising prices, corruption and insecurity and this has frustrated the people who now want a Congress-free Madhya Pradesh.

Mr Chouhan was addressing a huge public rally in the Rehli Assembly constituency of Sagar district. He said that during 10 years of BJP rule in MP, the state has developed more than what the Congress could deliver in terms of development in a span of fifty years after Independence. Praising his own government, he said that the state has registered record agriculture production. MP has also built the benchmark of growth for the entire country, he pointed out.
Mr Chouhan said that the Congress is afraid of the outcome of the coming state Assembly election. Those in the Congress neither have achievements to flash nor any blue-print for growth and development. It is due to this reason that they are now following the singe-point agenda of tarnishing the image of BJP leaders, the chief said adding the BJP workers will give a befitting reply to the Opponents. He said that the poor, farmers and labourers identify themselves with the State BJP government, which is committed to ensure the welfare and security of all sections of the people. The chief minister especially reiterated commitment for the weaker sections and those residing in villages.
Mr Chouhan said that the state BJP government has not imposed any new tax still there has been a 400 per cent increase in revenue and tax collection and the state’s budget, which was `22,000 crore in 2003 when the Congress was in power, has gone up to `100,000 crore. He said, under the previous Congress regime farmers were being given farm loans at 18 per cent interest, whereas now the same loans are being extended at zero per cent interest. He also talked of special bonus the farmers were getting besides the support price in MP and the steps taken to ensure adequate supply of electricity to the farm sector.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
