MP: DIG Prisons found to be worth crores of rupees
Lokayukta Police here on Saturday carried out a search at the house of Deputy Inspector General, Prisons, and claimed to have discovered assets worth crores of rupees, disproportionate to known sources of income.
Acting on a tip-off, Lokayukta sleuths raided Umesh Kumar Gandhi's house in the Old Jail premises, said Superintendent of Police Siddharth Choudhrary.
So far, they had found fixed deposit receipts of Rs 2.3 crore, Rs 40 lakh investment in LIC, Rs 4 lakh cash and title documents of 25 properties in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Raisen, Katni and Sagar districts, Choudhary said.
The search was still on, he added.
