M.P. DOWNPLAYS UNAUTHORISED DRUG TRIAL CASE
The Madhya Pradesh government has made light the issue of unauthorised drug trials in Indore with minister of state for health and health education Mahendra Hardia stating on Thursday that the state health department has taken adequate action at its own level against doctors who had failed to keep the government informed about drug trials being conducted by them, although this is a government of India subject and the state government has no jurisdiction over it.
The state health education minister’s response is significant as it comes immediately after the slapping of a fine of `5000 each against 12 Indore-based doctors accused of conducting unauthorised drug trials.
The minister said that these doctors have been asked to pay a fine under the Nursing Home Act.

Call from ship about arms PUTS SECURITY ON ALERT
New Delhi, Jan. 5: A telephone call from a ship off Kutch coast to the US about an arms consignment has set alarm bells ringing in the security establishment which have alerted Navy and Coast Guard about possible arrival of arms and ammunition along the Indian coast line.
All the coastal states including Gujarat and Maharashtra have also been asked to step up patrolling in the sea and keep an eye about illegal activities, official sources said here.
The security agencies believe that terrorists may try to replicate the 26/11 terror attack. The 2008 attack in Mumbai was carried by LeT terrorists using the sea route from Pakistan. — PTI
