Following a brief adjournment, Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani adjourned the House after the Question Hour on Monday — the opening day of the Monsoon Session — as the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members started protesting and shouting slogans for the extradition of former Union Carbide Corporation chief Warren Anderson and punishment to those responsible for the Bhopal gas disaster.

The MP House began its proceedings by paying glowing tributes to former vice-president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, former Union minister Digvijay Singh, ex-MLAs Bhaiyaram Khunte, Ramkumar Agrawal, Jayaben, Mohanlal Jhikram, and Major Amit Thenge, the Army officer from the Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh who made the supreme sacrifice fighting the enemy in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
