MP mantri quits over sodomy allegations
Madhya Pradesh’s BJP government, which is preparing for the state Assembly elections later this year, was jolted by the swift turn of events on Friday which culminated with the resignation of state finance minister Raghavji, who has been accused of sodomising his domestic servant. A controversial compact disc (CD) said to be exposing Mr Raghavji in a compromising position apparently sealed his fate.
On Friday morning, Mr Raghavji’s male domestic help, Rajkumar Dangi, landed at Habibaganj police station in the state capital and lodged a complaint alleging that the minister had been sexually exploiting him for many years. He even told the police that he is in possession of a CD showing the minister in a compromising position. The complainant told the police that beside Mr Raghavji, two of his accomplices were also exploiting him sexually. A police officer posted at the police station confirmed that a complaint had been received and said the police would now be investigating the charges.

Influential bookie held in IPL spot-fixing

The Mumbai crime branch on Friday arrested an influential bookie, known to be bigger than those already arrested in connection with the recent IPL spot-fixing scandal.
Shobhan Mehta, alias Shobhan Kalachowkey, was arrested in Goa by a team of officers of the property cell and brought to Mumbai by Friday evening. This takes the total number of arrests in the scandal to 17.
