MP police arrests 8 Simi activists
The anti-terrorist squad of Madhya Pradesh Police on Sunday succeeded in nabbing eight militants belonging to the banned Indian Mujahideen and Students Islamic Movement of India (Simi) — four of them from Jabalpur and four from the state capital.
State director-general of police S.K. Raut announced the arrest of the eight militants at a press conference at the state police headquarters here. He said that three of those arrested on Sunday were wanted in the Ahmedabad bomb blasts case. One of them, Sheikh Mujib, is a prime accused in that case.
With the latest arrest the number of militants arrested this month by the anti-terrorist squad (ATS) of Madhya Pradesh police has gone up to ten. Two Simi militants were arrested from Ratlam on June 3 after a shootout in which one police constable Shivpratap Singh was killed.

June 5: A Naxal commander was on Sunday gunned down in an encounter with security personnel in Sarikonta jungles in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Bijapur district, the police said.
The police claimed that at least three more ultras may have been killed in the incident.
A search party of Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) and district force (DF), both elite anti-Naxal wings of Chhattisgarh police, came face to face with an armed group of rebels at a place between Dudheda and Sarikonta, leading to exchange of fire between them. The encounter, which began at around 11.30 am, lasted about three hours. Later, the rebels fled the area after they ran out of ammunitions.
