MPs should say if they represented telecom firms in court: Cong

The Congress on Tuesday said MPs should declare whether they have represented any of the parties in the telecom battle in courts before they speak on the 2G spectrum issue in Parliament.

"It would be in the interest of morality — and ethical thing to do," Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari told reporters outside Parliament.

He said the 2G spectrum issue was extensively litigated in the courts of law.

"If any member of Parliament does decide to speak on it on any side of the House, it would be appropriate that they should declare their interest that in professional capacities whether they had represented any of the party in the telecom battle either in the high court or in the Supreme Court or any other court," Mr Tewari said.

Asked whom he was referring to, Mr Tewari said, "I am not naming anybody."
