Mulayam son scripts success story

Prateek Yadav, young son of Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav, is in the news these days. And it is not about politics either.
The younger scion of the Yadav clan is hitting headlines for his near miraculous transformation from “fat to fit”.
Prateek, 25, was awarded the title of “International Transformation of the Month” in September by a physique building website called bodybuilding.com.
In his own words, it was his father’s challenge to him that made him shed the flab and build up a body that is perfectly at par with the Salman Khans of the world.
“Back in 2003, I weighed 225 pounds and was completely removed from sports or any kind of health activity. People at school used to make fun of my obesity. I wanted to change myself, but never really got motivated. Then in September 2003, my father challenged me to lose 10 kg in two months and I joined a gym promptly. I lost 15 kgs in two months, but that was just the start of a never-ending journey,” says Prateek while relating his story on the website.
At the gym, Prateek met two other boys who were in his age group and shared his weight too. “This kicked off a sense of competition amongst us and made weight loss easier,” he says.
Six months, later Prateek says he had lost 35 kilos and also his strength. Prateek then decided to build muscles and started learning from his mistakes. “I have made numerous mistakes in the gym in the past, but eventually have always learned from the mistakes. To get stronger, I cut down my cardio to 20 minutes, 5 days per week in the evenings,” he says.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
