Mumbai man kills roommate

The city witnessed two different incidents of murder for relatively petty reasons on Monday. In the first incident, a 24-year-old Ripu Das brutally murdered his roommate Ravi Bhoya (30) at Gujarati Mandal in Tulshiwadi in Tardeo because Bhoya had filed a theft case against him. Bhoya had accused Mr Das of stealing Rs 60,000 and lodged a complaint in this regard with the Tardeo police station.
The duo is from the same village in Orissa and used to do odd jobs to make a living. They lived with other roommates at a rented place in Tulshiwadi. “Mr Das was furious as Bhoya had accused him of stealing the money. Mr Das went to his hometown two months ago and had returned to Mumbai on Sunday evening,” said a police officer from the Tardeo police station.
During the early hours of Monday morning, Bhoya, who was sleeping, was stabbed as many as seven times. Bhoya raised an alarm after which other tenants were alerted. Mr Das escaped from the spot while Bhoya who was rushed to Nair Hospital and was declared dead before admission. “Mr Das was a short-tempered person. His father in Orissa learned about his involvement in the theft after which he was kicked out of the house. The gram panchayat in his village also raised concerns over his behaviour. All this created a feeling of hatred in Mr Das after which he might have planned to kill Bhoya,” added the officer.
Meanwhile, in Mulund, a 21-year-old youth killed his elder brother, who was externed out of city limits by the police. The deceased, Ramu Ransingh Vishwakarma (25), had five cases of assault and robbery registered against him. According to police, the accused Laxman (21) was furious about Ramu’s harassment of his family members. “Ramu was a drunkard who frequently harassed his family members over trivial issues,” said police inspector Chandrakant Thakur from the Mulund police station.
During the early hours of Monday, Ramu returned to their residence in the slums near Gaushala Road in Mulund (west) in an inebriated condition. “Ramu demanded Laxman’s motorcycle and Rs 10,000 from his family members. When they refused, he assaulted them and also damaged the motorcycle,” added Mr Thakur. Ramu returned at around 11.30 am after which a scuffle broke out between him and Laxman.
In a fit of rage, Laxman drew a knife and plunged it into Ramu. The profusely bleeding Ramu was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead. The police has arrested Ramu.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
