Muralee to be back in Cong
Decks have been cleared for the re-entry of Mr K. Muraleedharan, son of the former chief minister, Mr K. Karunakaran to the Congress.
A former KPCC president, Mr Muraleedharan had been expelled from the party in 2005 after he formed the Democratic Indira Congress along with his father. Though Mr Karunakaran returned to the Congress, his son was left in the political wilderness with Kerala leaders opposing his re-entry.
However, the Congress high command apparently feels that it would be good to have Mr Muraleedharan back in the party in the context of the panchayat polls and the Assembly elections a year away.
He is set to meet Mrs Mohsina Kidwai, the AICC leader in charge of Kerala affairs, on Sunday, where a decision on his return is likely to be taken.
He is also expected to meet the senior leader, Mr A.K. Antony, among others.
