They met on Internet and got married in Bundi and their family arranged the weddding. But now groom Shahnawaz’s family has lodged a criminal complaint against elders of the community for ostracising them. “We have lodged an FIR on the basis of the complaint filed by Mohammed Shafi, the father of the groom,” says Bundi’s Kotwali SHO Surendra Danodiya.
According to the complaint, Mr Shahnawaz, an engineer, befriended Dr Rashida on Internet. They married in Budni as per the Islamic traditions.
The groom’s father said when he hosted dinner, the community elders boycotted and said any one who participate in the dinner would be fined. He said the elders termed such a marri-age anti-traditional and warned if anyone supports them, they will be ostracised.

‘40 terrorists have entered Kashmir’
Srinagar, May 22: Notwithstanding repeated denials by the Army, security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir have reported that nearly 35 to 40 terrorists have entered the Kashmir Valley but were holed up in higher reaches only due to extra layer of security by police and para-military forces.
Official reports comprising HUMINT (human intelligence) and TECHINT (technical intelligence) suggest that small groups of six to seven terrorists mainly belonging to Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Tayyaba entered the Valley through Kupwara and Gurez sectors and have entrenched themselves in Lolab and Rajwar forests in north Kashmir. —PTI
