My conscience is clear: Ashwani Kumar
Bengaluru: Former Law Minister Ashwani Kumar on Saturday said he resigned to avoid further controversy. In his first address to media after his resignation, he said, “ I have resigned to put an end to unnecessary controversy. My conscience is clear, I will come clean.”
“Supreme Court has not made any adverse remarks against me. No wrong doing, my resignation was a political decision,” he added.
It’s PM's prerogative to ask colleagues when to resign, he said when asked about PM’s decision on asking him to quit.
Instead of answering questions on SC remarks, he opted to blame media for blowing the issue out of proportion.
Ashwani Kumar was under fire from the opposition after the Supreme Court came down heavily on the CBI for allowing the law ministry to vet the draft of CBI probe report on the Coalgate.
