‘My son Missing’
Bengaluru: Worried at not having heard from her son holidaying in Himachal Pradesh for a full 48 hours, an anxious Sudha Patil of Vijaynagar has not slept for some nights now.
Karthik, doing his civil engineering at VTU College in Yelahanka is on a three-week holiday in Manali with his friend Anup and is scheduled to return to Bengaluru on June 28. He spoke to his mother last from Manali on Friday and since then his phone has been out of reach. When they couldn't reach him on Saturday, his parents hoped he would call them the next day.
But on hearing about the flash floods and landslides in Himachal Pradesh, they are now making frantic attempts to reach the concerned authorites in that state to make sure he is safe.
“While Karthik planned to go to the Amarnath shrine from Manali, Anup was supposed to go on a biking expedition. Anup sent his two-wheeler to Delhi in a train and began his biking expedition. Both friends were in touch although they were not together. But when we spoke to Anup on Sunday he too was concerned as he was not able to contact Karthik,”said Patil.
On Tuesday Karthik's parents lodged a formal complaint with the Vijayanagar police and are hoping it can help them find him. "The police asked us to provide photographs of Karthik which they will send to the help desks in Delhi and Himachal Pradesh. We are hoping that our son is safe and will contact us soon," added Patil.
