Mysura: Maha work on dam despite SC order
TDP MP, Mr M.V. Mysura Reddy on Thursday raised the issue of construction of Babhali barrage on Godavari river by the Maharashtra government despite the Supreme Court ruling to maintain status quo, in Parliament.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour in Rajya Sabha, the TDP MP pointed that despite Supreme Court’s interim directions, Maharashtra government was going ahead with construction of barrage and installation of the gates. Mr Reddy said it was in violation of apex court’s directions. But BJP and Shiv Sena members from Maharashtra started protesting against Mr Reddy for raising the issue as it was “sub judice.” Finally, deputy chairman K. Rahman Khan had to intervene to allow Mr Reddy to finish his speech.
Earlier, amidst protests from BJP members, LJP members Mr Ramvilas Paswan raked up the alleged misuse of Rs 12,000 crore Central fund by the NDA-ruled Bihar government.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Mr Paswan alleged that the Bihar government was misusing the Central funds given for the NREGA, mid-day scheme, welfare plans for the SC/STs and Indira Awas Yojna.
Angry BJP members led by Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad and JD-U member Mr N.K. Singh said the Chair was setting a precedent by allowing an issue concerning the state to be raised. To this, deputy chairman K. Rahman Khan said Mr Paswan was given permission to raise the matter after he said his speech would be limited to misuse of central fund.
