Naidu predicts mid-term LS polls
Senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday predicted that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at New Delhi will collapse within six months and a mid-term elections of Lok Sabha is imminent.
Addressing public rallies in central Assam’s Sonitpur district, Mr Naidu said, “The Congress government has to go on the issue of corruption and the people will have to face election as they are fed up with the number of scams during the rule of the present UPA government.”
Slamming the Congress- led government of the state, Mr Naidu said it has failed to bring in any development and cheated the poor both in urban and rural areas reeling under corruption and non-development.
Mr Naidu targeted both Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for doing nothing to alleviate the sufferings of the people. “The people of India are weeping but Manmohanji and Soniaji are sleeping,” he said.
Claiming that the country had witnessed all round development during Atal Behari Vajpayee’s tenure as prime minister, he said, “It was the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government that had taken up schemes for the development of Assam road communication with national highways being converted to four-lanes.”
