Nanavati Commission questions Gordhan Zadafia
The Nanavati Commission probing the 2002 post-Godhra riots questioned on Friday former Gujarat minister of state for home Gordhan Zadafia in-camera. Zadafia was questioned for over 90 minutes by retired Justices G.T. Nanavati and Akshay Mehta.
After emerging out of the commission office here, Zadafia said, "I was called by the commission and I have answered their questions".
The G.T. Nanavati-led commission has tabled the first part of its report on 2002 riots on the Godhra train burning incident in the state assembly and is now probing various aspects of post-Godhra riots in which more than 1,000 people were killed.
Zadafia, is the ninth person to be questioned in-camera by the commission in last few months, in connection with the 2002 riots. Police officials questioned by the commission in-camera so far are M.K. Tandon, V.K. Solanki, M.T. Rana, P.B. Gondia, A.A. Gupta, A.B. Qureshi, G.D. Solanki and V S Gohil.
Zadafia was earlier questioned by the Supreme Court appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connections with the 2002 riots.
