National symbol on Sangma website

Opposition backed presidential candidate P.A. Sangma was caught offguard at his press conference at the state Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters here on Sunday when asked why his special website www.sangmaforpresident.com was carrying the national emblem of India on the header and he responded to this by saying “it should not be there”. Shortly after this, the emblem was removed from the header.
The emblem issue cropped up during Mr Sangma’s press conference held after he had addressed the BJP MPs and MLAs to solicit their votes in support of his candidature at the BJP headquarters. When this correspondent asked Mr Sangma to comment on the technical propriety of using the national emblem on his website being publicised and used for promoting his candidature, Mr Sangma said that the website had been made when he was a legislature but now it (the emblem) should not be there.
Also present on the dais at the press conference were Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

AGE CORRESPONDENT
kolkata, july 8

UPA’s presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee arrived at Kolkata on a special aircraft from New Delhi on Sunday evening. Mr Mukherjee will meet the 52 MLAs of four Left parties — CPI(M), Forward Bloc, DSP and SP — at the West Bengal Assembly building at 10 am on Monday to seek their votes. At 11 am, he is scheduled to hold a similar meeting with the Congress MLAs at the same venue. Meanwhile, taking a dig at Mr Mukherjee, the Trinamul Congress on Sunday said that he was always close to the CPI(M) and it has became evident now.
After landing at the Kolkata airport, Mr Mukherjee said: “Tomorrow I will hold a meeting with the MLAs of Congress, CPI(M) and Forward Bloc inside the premises of state Assembly. Then I will talk to the media persons.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
