Naval War Room leak: CBI team leaves for UK
A two-member CBI team on Sunday left for London to provide assistance to the Crown Prosecutor Services (CPS), which is the prosecuting agency in the Naval War Room leak case in a British Court. The agency officials are also expected to try and expedite the process of extradition of Ravi Shankaran, a key accused in the Naval War Room leak case, by interacting with officials of the agency concerned in London.
According to sources a two-member team led by a superintendent of police left on Sunday along with the documents relating to the alleged involvement of Shankaran in the leaking of commercially sensitive information from the War Room of the Navy. A London court is likely to hear India’s plea seeking extradition of Ravi Shankaran on January 19.
Earlier, the CBI, which was not represented in two hearings, had sought assistance of the CPS to represent the case in the British court for Shankaran extradition.
Extradition of Shankaran is necessary for the naval war room leak case to unravel the missing links, sources said. His trial will be held in the London’s Westminster Magistrates’ court where India’s extradition request listing his alleged role in the crime would be heard, sources said.

Rape victim wants to ‘kill’ MLA
age correspondent
Lucknow
Jan. 16: “I want him hanged. In fact, if I had my way, I would kill him with my own hands. He has ruined my life.”
These are the words of the minor girl who was allegedly raped by BSP MLA Purshottam Naresh Dwiwedi.
Talking to reporters in her village Shahbazpur in Banda district on Sunday, a day after her release from jail, she said, “The MLA not only raped me but also passed me on to his men. After raping me twice, he asked me to marry one of his servants so that he could continue to use me. When I refused his offer, he threatened to shoot me with his revolver.”
The girl said that she even had managed to slip out of the legislator’s home but she was later caught by his henchmen and handed over to the police that put her in jail on charges of theft.
Replying to a question, the girl said that S.P. Banda, Anil Das, had met her in jail and then tried to pressurise her to withdraw her complaint against the legislator.
