Navya Nair set to unmask Pinarayi Vijayan’s ‘rude’ face
In a move aimed at giving an image makeover to CPM leader Pinarayi Vijayan, the party-backed Kairali TV will soon present the other side of the party chief who often comes off as being ‘rude and brash’.
To add a bit of glamour to the whole affair, the channel roped in Malayalam film actor Navya Nair to interview Pinarayi along with his wife and daughter.
“Can I ask Mr Pinarayi Vijayan questions without fear,’’ Navya asked at the outset. “Why should anyone fear me? This is a media creation,’’ said Pinarayi.
Pinarayi Vijayan is perhaps the only politician, who many say, has been a victim of bad press. Right from SNC Lavalin case when he was projected as a “corrupt” politician thanks to the intra-party problems, to the tag of “murderer” in the T.P. Chandrasekharan case.
Media observers say Pinarayi has been the most-talked-about politician in the state for nearly eight years. He is one leader who has perhaps got the maximum air time on TV and had newspapers using reams and reams of newsprint writing on him.
Coming as it does close on the heels of the huge negative publicity that Pinarayi attracted over the TPC murder and his use of the “Kulamkuthi” phrase in the backdrop of the murder, the interview is something the CPM state secretary badly needs to alter people’s general perception about his personality.
