Naxal ‘blueprint’ for NE busted
In a major breakthrough on insurgency front, security agencies have busted the “blueprint” of the action plan of the CPI-Maoist in the northeast.
Disclosing that a definite road map has been prepared to expand network of red rebels in the trouble-torn northeast, authoritative security sources told this newspaper that arrest of at least three hard-core Maoists rebels has revealed that Maoists have plan to form a “strategic zone” comprising hilly terrains of Karbi Anglong and North Cachar of Assam and Dibang valley of Arunachal Pradesh. The central committee of the Maoist had advised to cultivate plain areas of Brahamaputra valley for political and organisation matters, security sources said.
Informing that top Maoist rebel Tapan Mahto has been entrusted with responsibility of setting up “strategic zone” in hilly terrains of the region for their future use, security sources said that arrest of Swapan Barman alias Robin after Pallab Barbora, proprietor a private school was a major breakthrough.
Informing that Pallab Barbora had advised Swapan Barman to go underground soon after transshipment of a consignment of 3,000 bullets and few pistols to Upper Assam Leading Committee, security sources said that they bought a new Tata Sumo vehicle to trans-ship the consignment, which was supplied by rebels of Peoples Liberation Army of Manipur. Swapan Barman, who was arrested by city police following a specific tip off of the Intelligence Bureau, was also advised to go for training in Chhattisgarh but he was reluctant to go.
