Naxal bomb attack kills 6, injures 1
Six people, including a child, were killed and one was injured in a bomb blast carried out by the Naxals in Gadchiroli on Thursday afternoon. The victims, all natives of West Bengal, were on their way to attend a wedding, when they were attacked.
According to the police, the Naxals had carried out a similar attack in 2006, killing 11 persons of a wedding entourage, all of whom were from West Bengal. The police is also investigating if the Naxals are deliberately targeting Bengalis.

Pak fires Indian posts along LoC

May 5: In a fresh case of ceasefire violation, Pakistant troops on Thursday evening resorted to unprovoked firing targeting forward Indian posts at the Line of Control in Krishna Ghati sector of Mendhar in Poonch district. Defence sources stated that Pak troops also used MMGs, RPGs besides small arms to target Indian posts. Initial inputs suggested that three Indian forward posts were targeted from Pak posts viz., Peepal, Pattal and Daku.

Accidental explosion kills major

May 5: An Army major died in an accidental grenade explosion at Ghari in Nowshera area of district Rajouri. The mishap took place when the Army officer, identified as 37-year old Major P.K. Jindal from 26 Rajput Regiment presently located in Akhnoor sector, was engaged in supervising practice of handling grenades at Ghari firing range in Nowshera sub-division of Rajouri district on Wednesday afternoon. The pin was got released a bit earlier and due to mistiming, the grenade exploded near the officer and he was seriously injured.
