NCW demands CBI probe into police firing
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has demanded an immediate CBI inquiry into the Bhatta Parsaul firing incident in Greater Noida on May 7. Acting NCW chairperson Yasmin Abrar alleged that grave atrocities like rape and murders were committed in the two villages by the Uttar Pradesh police.
Ms Abrar said only an impartial inquiry by the CBI will bring out the truth as the state police is party to the crime. She also asked the UP government to lodge an FIR into the incident and book the culprits. Ms Abrar claimed many of the villagers are still missing and mounds of ashes must be examined as people from the areas claim that human remains are there in the mounds. She made these claims after making an on-the-spot assessment of the situation. The NCW has sought a report from the home ministry on these alleged atrocities. Sources said that the Home ministry is gathering all the relevant information and will pass it on to the NCW at the earliest.A spot report at Bhatta Parsaul did not, however, show any “mounds of ashes”.
