NDFB militant killed in encounter

A National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), belonging to the outfit's Ranjan Daimary led anti-talk faction, was killed in an encounter with security forces in Assam's Chirang district on Monday, official sources said. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the police and army launched an operation at Hatipara area of the district killing the militant early on Monday morning. A 7.65 mm pistol, two magazines, five rounds of ammunition and several documents have been recovered from the slain militant, who has been identified as Jayanta Narzary, sources said.
