Newborn twin dies
The family of a mechanical engineering designer in Voltas was struck by grief in a fire mishap at Puppalaguda on Sunday. One of the twins born in the family on November 14 died of burn injuries and asphyxiation, while the other was saved.
M. Venu and his wife M. Sarada were staying on second floor of Baba Nivas apartment along with their twins and parents of both Venu and Sarada. Sarada works with Karvy in Banjara Hills.
Ravindra Babu, brother of Sarada and resident of Yousufguda, who rushed to Osmania General Hospital said, ”Soon after receiving information, I rushed to the hospital. I learned that as the fire broke out and smoke filled the apartment, they were all caught in it.”
“My sister was able to take one of the twins out. My mother, Ananthara-vamma, suffered serious burns and she is admitted to OGH.”
Doctors at the Osmania General Hospital said four out of the five family members taken to the hospital were ‘brought dead.’ They were brought in by a 108 vehicle. Two of the dead women were around 40 years old, and the male was around 50 years old, doctors said.
