Nitaqat: Vijayamma asks CM to help Telugus
Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party honorary president Y.S. Vijayamma on Friday demanded that the State Government must extend all possible help to the people from Andhra Pradesh who are likely to be affected due to Nitaqat Law of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a similar initiative by Kuwait.
In a letter to Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Vijayamma said that nearly six lakh workers from AP would lose their jobs in Saudi Arabia because of 'Nitaqat'. Similarly, nearly 1.5 lakh workers in Kuwait would be jobless.
"A large number of them are semi-skilled labourers from Karimanagar, Nizamabad, Hyderabad Old City, YSR Kadapa, East and West Godavari districts. Of these, if a sudden influx of one and half lakh unemployed returnees arrive in the next two months, there will be turmoil in AP," she said.
Vijayamma demanded that State Government take steps for the return of Telugus stranded in Gulf countries. She also requested the Chief Minister to create a security deposit for Gulf victims besides providing jobs to them after their return.
