Nitish ensures Marathi pride intact
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, who arrived in Mumbai on Saturday, attended the “Bihar Shatabdi Samaroh Utsav” organised at Somaiya Grounds in Sion on Sunday evening.
As promised earlier, the celebrations started with the song Jai Jai Maharashtra Maazha.
The Bihar chief minister, who was the chief guest at the event, then garlanded the busts of Chhatrapati Shivaji, Mahatam Phule and Dr B.R. Ambedkar, announcing the start of the celebrations.
The Marathi song was in keeping with the promise made by Mr Kumar’s PRO and chief organiser of the programme Deveshch-andra Thakur, on his behalf.
Mr Thakur, who visited MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday, had assured the latter that the pride of Maharashtra, will be most honoured during the celebrations and efforts will be taken to ameliorate the friendly ties between the two states.
Though much tension was diffused after Mr Thackeray withdrew his threat to disrupt the event, tight security cover was provided for the Bihar chief minister since his arrival at the Mumbai airport on Saturday and even at the grounds later on Sunday.
