Nitish may go to Modi

New Delhi, Aug. 7: The Bihar Chief Minister, Mr Nitish Kumar, will now be working to bring together non-Congress chief ministers to arrive at an unified approach on centre-state relations. Mr Kumar, who has been avoiding the Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr Narrendra Modi, would now once again be rubbing shoulders with him.

On the first day of the two-day national executive meeting of the JD(U) in the capital, the party authorised Mr Kumar to unite all non-Congress state chief ministers on the issues of decentralisation of rights and powers to the state.

When asked if Mr Kumar would be also approaching Mr Modi, the national spokesman and secretary general of the JD(U), K.C. Tyagi, relied in affirmative. “Yes, naturally. The Gujrat chief minister is also a non-Congress CM, so he will also be approached. Gujrat has many temples, don’t people go there on pilgrims,” Mr Tyagi stated.

The Bihar chief minister was last seen holding hands of Mr Modi during a rally of the NDA last year in Ludhiyana on the eve of the Lok Sabha elections.

The photograph taken then was published in Patna based dailies on the eve of the national executive meeting of the BJP, which had taken the two parties to the brink of even calling off their relations.

The JD(U) in its resolution on Centre-state relations stated that on the one hand the Centre is withdrawing from the economic and investment activities and on the other hand imposing reforms by putting conditions.
