No arrests in murder case against minister kin
Till Friday evening, even 24-hours after registering an FIR on the charge of murder and attempt to murder against the relatives of Madhya Pradesh health minister Anup Mishra, the Gwalior police had not arrested any one. The FIR was registered on Thursday after one person had died and half a dozen others were injured in indiscriminate firing over a piece of land adjoining a private college on the outskirts of Gwalior.
The violent incident took place on Wednesday night. Those accused in the FIR include the minister’s son Ashwini, his two brothers Abhay and Ajay, cousin Deepak and brother-in-law Yogesh. It has been alleged that they had reached Bela village along with their supporters on Wednesday night to take possession of a piece of land adjoining the Institute of Professional Studies. Matters got precipitated and there was heavy firing.
In the FIR, the brother of the deceased has also named Mr Mishra saying he had been told about the disputed piece of land but had done nothing to diffuse the situation. The MP minister of state for home, Narain Singh Kushwaha said in Gwalior that he wants a probe to be conducted to identify those responsible for transferring the lease of this land. He was emphatic in pointing out that Bela village has been there for a long time and the villagers cannot be denied the right for passage and an approach road.
When contacted on Friday evening, the Gwalior senior superintendent of policesaid the police have been busy controlling the law and order situation arising out of this incident.
