‘No attempts by Cong, SP leaders to contact Suhail’
In the cash-for-votes scam, the police submitted before special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal that neither any leader of the Congress has made any effort to contact Suhail Hindustani nor any SP leader had contacted him to strike a deal with MPs. “Rather it is clear that it was only Hindustani who was making repeated attempts to
contact various persons to strike a deal for monetary considerations in the name of three BJP MPs,” the police said. The crime branch investigators made the submission while producing Hindustani, who was arrested on Wednesday. The custody of Sanjeev Saxena, a close aide of Amar Singh, which expired on Thursday, has also been extended by one day. Mr Singh’s aide, Sanjeev Saxena and Suhail Hindustani have told the Delhi Police that they collected the money offered to the three BJP MPs to abstain from voting on July 21 when the crucial floor test took place in LS from Mr Singh’s residence who will face investigators on Friday.
Meanwhile, terming the probe into cash-for-vote scam as a “cover up,” the BJP alleged that Delhi Police was succumbing to pressure from the Centre. The party claimed its three MPs acted as whistle-blowers in the case but are now being framed up as part of the conspiracy to save the “real culprits.”
