No firecrackers after 10 pm on Diwali night

In an effort to cut down pollution this Diwali, the Delhi government on Tuesday decided not to allow bursting of crackers after 10 pm and sought the help of the police to enforce the decision.

Delhi environment secretary Dharmendra asked the police and deputy commissioners of various districts to strictly enforce this decision. Teams from the department will be deployed in various areas to check bursting of firecrackers after the deadline. Action under the Environment Protection Act will also be taken against violators. —PTI
