No funding for climate projects yet
Although a coordinated exercise is on between the government of India and various state governments to implement the state-level action plans aimed at assisting various government departments and stakeholders in maintaining climate change concerns in their developmental plans but so far no decision has been taken regarding the source of funding for this purpose.
While many state governments have met the extended deadline of March 31, 2011 and submitted the State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC), several states, including Madhya Pradesh, are still in the process of meeting this objective. It was at the initiative of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that all states were asked to submit SAPCC spelling out how they would be tackling the sensitive issue covering every sector. In MP, a participative process was adopted after extensive consultations with government and non-government stakeholders and a number of consultations were held with various government departments, including agriculture, animal husbandry, forest, energy and rural development. In order to reach out at the micro-level, region specific consultations were organised at 11 different agro-climatic zones on the state.
