No irregularities in draw, claims DDA

The DDA on Wednesday clarified that the allegations that four persons of a family have been allotted flats under the DDA Housing Scheme-2010 were untrue as these four persons belonged to different families.

Giving details of the four applicants, a DDA spokesperson said that all four were residents of different areas in the city and was a coincidence that the name of the father of all the four applicants was Sunil Kumar, leading to a feeling that they were related.
“The authority contacted the successful allottees over phone and they told the officials that they were not related to each other,” clarified the spokesperson.
One of the four persons, Vivek Jain, is a resident of Dilshad Garden, while Sameer Jain is a resident of Alipur Road, Civil Lines, said the spokesperson. It was further pointed out that the other two applicants, Bhanu Jain and Gaurav Jain, are residents of Ashok Vihar and Mayur Vihar, respectively.
There was another case of three persons of a family getting flats in the draw. The DDA said that it was possible as all three had applied as separate individuals in the Scheduled Caste category and the area chosen by them was not in demand.
Meanwhile, the DDA put up a list of waitlisted candidates, who may be considered for allotment of flats against cancellations, on its website on Wednesday. The cancellations may take place if successful allottees do not pay the money in time or if their documents are not found correct. The waiting list has names of about 600 applicants, of which 432 are of general category.
The registration money of the waitlisted candidates would be returned for now. However, if they would be asked to submit applications for another draw — following cancellations — they would have to pay registration money within 15 days.
The draw will be carried out once in six months time. The waiting list would be valid for nine months after the date of demand letter being issued to the successful candidates.
Earlier in the day, there was some confusion over the waitlist. A DDA official said that there was some delay in putting up the list, but the authority had no intention of not putting up the list.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
